We have 3 children at CAIS, 3rd grade and under, and so far are very pleased with our experience. First off, the community is exceptionally tight and very special. Although this is a private school, everyone feels very approachable and the snootiness factor is almost non-existent. I think this is hard to find in private schools where obviously tuition is high and therefore the school will attract a certain population. This is a school of families that work hard and believe very strongly in education. Next, we have had exceptional experiences with the teachers at CAIS. They are consistently amazing. They hit that right mix of being firm disciplinarians, while truly loving and nurturing the children. Of course, the Chinese education is not to be matched by any other immersion school in the area. We think this is an amazing choice for anyone who wants to go private education in SF and yet get something very unique and valuable compared to what you can receive from non-immersion programs. It's not just about the language, it's about the culture and the richness of knowing how other people live and think. A new head of school and new head of the pre-k just started this fall, so we expect even more exceptional things to come from this school.

Were you able to get your oldest child accepted for K? Do you know how much you should engage with the admissions team? I have heard they don't mind constant inquiries or additional letters because it shows a future commitment to the school, do you have any idea how much is too much?
