Sad first day of school

My daughter's first day of High School wasn't a good day at all because she couldn't eat lunch for being .50 short of the $1.50 she was suppose to pay. I had no idea that she was suppose to pay for lunch I never received any correspondence stating that I had to pay a fee. So of course my child came home very hungry & I want answers from the school to allow a child to not be able to eat. Why couldn't they just tell my daughter to bring in the additional balance the next day of school. Now I am a first time mom & am still learning how to deal with certain situations when it concerns my child. What should I do next?

Booniebgood, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's tough first day. I fully understand where you're coming from wishing the school just telling your daughter to bring in the additional balance the next day but it's easier for people to just stick to "policy".

Hopefully, she had a better second day!
