St. Brendan - Kindergarten application for 2012 - 2013

Are you applying to K at St. Brendan this year?

I had heard that last year (2011-2012) was a hard year to get a spot at St Brendan school in sf. Something like only 14 spots, after siblings.

Then this year, my friend talked to an administrator at teh school who told her that this coming year (2012 -2013) was going to be "very impacted" by siblings. Does anyone know what this might mean? Could it get any worse/tough than previous year's 14 spots?

Any insight from parents who know the school well or have other kids there already?

What I've been told is this year will be even worse. There may be 32 siblings applying, which leaves 8 spots if the school takes 40 for the class. If some of those 32 are not kindergarten ready (borderline too young), then that may open up a couple more. Hard to believe that this year could be even tighter than last.

Kessiesf - thankyou for your reply. How knowledgeable is the person who told you this information? Just 8 spots? That is incredible. Who knows that they will hand-pick the 8. Seems taht a lot of people will be disappointed, including parishioners.

The source was Ms. Grewal herself. She told the current parents at a school function to get the sibling applications in early because of how many there are. With so few spots, she has her job cut out for her deciding who gets in and who doesn't.
