Many school and programs that use assessment tests to determine admission eligibility, report that the cutoff score changes from year to year. How ever, I just noticed that the score at some schools, e.g. Hunter College Elementary have remained the same a few years in a row. Does anyone have more detailed information pertaining to this, and whether this means that if a child who scores one point below the required eligibility score would therefor not be considered?

While private schools use ERB scores as just one of the criteria for evaluating candidates, Hunter uses an absolute cutoff on its version of the SB5 to determine who makes it to Round 2. What they've said in the past is that they pick a cutoff that lets them bring ~250 kids in for on-site evaluation. The unfortunate part of that is if you miss the cutoff by one point, you're basically out of the picture. Hope that helps.
