I've seen in some older posts about number of non-sibling kindergarten spots at the various private schools and was curious when the schools start disclosing them. I'd just like to know what our chances are. Tx.

If I remember correctly we got a lot of this information at the coffee events in January/February. Many schools just completed screenings for siblings so there is a good chance they are still figuring out how many spots they will hvae. However, not everyone discloses it so you might have to ask. Try not to focus on the # of spots though because you might drive yourself crazy!

A friend who just went through the sibling process at Hamlin said there are a lot of siblings this year.

Any word on what the situation looks like at the boys schools?

Based on what I've heard around the school, SVdP has only 5 non sibling spots available.

I've heard similar about St VdPaul, that it will be an especially tough year because of the number of sibs. Im curious about the girls schools-I've heard Burkes has a healthy number of spots (12 siblings) but does anyone know the numbers for Hamlin/Convent?

Not all schools provide that information and if they don't I would advise being careful how you ask if you choose to. I was part of a coffee conversation for parents with the head of school and things went south quickly when the parent decided to play the numbers game (siblings, spots open, etc) with the head of school in front of 50 other potential families. This was not looked upon kindly from what I could tell.

Also, from what I know it is going to be a very tough year at SVDP and St. Brendans- less than 10 spots at each school. Not sure about the private schools yet... will keep you posted.

The chatter is that just about half the spots at Hamlin will be filled with siblings.

It's hard to get too worked up about spots. It's not something you can control. Put your best foot forward and hope your child is what they're looking for. That said, I'm so relieved we're done with the interviewing and screening this year! Good luck everybody.

Wow. How did you finish already? We had to reschedule one of the playdates due to illness. Can't wait for this to end and for March to be here already.

Some schools tell you exactly how many spots and some don't at all...Obviously we preferred the transparency when going through process!

Yeah, I don't know why more schools don't just share that info. We too appreciated more info rather than less when we when through the process last year.
