We were all set to send our child to our parish school at SVDP but are having second thoughts after the tour we took. Was it just us or did it seem underwhelming and the new principal seemed aloof?

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience with your tour. Can I ask why you felt underwhelmed? We've had positive experiences so far and would be happy to answer any questions you have.

Maybe it was just me expecting too much. The classes in SVDP felt so structured and stiff compared to the ones I saw in other private schools. I'm concerend that the structure will be too much for our child. And the principal, maybe she's still new but I wish she spent more time talking to us about her vision for the school.

I'm joining this conversation a little late but wanted to add my two cents. It's hard to compare private independent schools with Catholic schools. The independent schools are more progressive and have different class structure than Catholic schools, which tend to be more structured given the class sizes. The structure is certainly not for everyone. That said, from what I know, SVDP is one of the better Catholic schools in the city along with St. Brendan, NDV, St. Cecilia, etc. NDV may be the less structured of the Catholic schools so that may be more your speed.
