From DNAinfo.com (http://www.dnainfo.com/20120208/upper-east-side/french-preschools-on-ues-en-vogue-as-french-parenting-takes-spotlight) by Amy Zimmer:

The book about ultra-competitive Chinese parenting is so passè. The new rule book for bringing up tots is the French "Bringing Up Bébé." (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/08/books/bringing-up-bebe-a-french-influenced-guide-by-pamela-druckerman.html)

The Upper East Side's French bilingual preschools are already en vogue, and the book may make parents even more passionate about their fight to get their children into them.

Joining the ranks of the Lycée Française de New York (http://www.lfny.org/), where school officials have already been seeing an increase in applications for preschool (and other grades) over the last 10 years, and Le Petit Paradis (http://www.lepetitparadispreschool.com/), where Madonna sends her kids, the French Institute Alliance Française (http://www.fiafpreschool.org/mission.shtml) is opening a new preschool with classes for 3- and 4-year-olds in September.

FIAF has already gotten an "overwhelming" response for its roughly 28 pre-school seats, Guitty Roustai, director of childrens' programs at the French Institute, said. Parents are even signing their children up for the 2013 school year.

The program will use both French and American teaching methods — though, when it comes to food, the approach will be very French.
