For 2011, SI Tech was 485 and Queens @York was 502, according to a list supplied by a reputable Test Center.

For 2012, it's already been reported that the lowest score for acceptance into any specialized school was 477, Brooklyn Latin.

I also read it in another DOE issued document but I can't find it any longer. Note, Inside Schools article indicates 472, not 477, as lowest score. However, I have seen 477 cited many times, so not sure which is correct.

I see it on Insideschools. DOE released only one document as far as I know and I didn't see it there. I'll go with what Insideschools has for now.

I'm sorry to hear that you missed the Brooklyn Tech cutoff by 1 pt. That must be very frustrating! The score I had before was based on the lowest score I had seen so thank you for the updated info.

My son got into HSMSE with 515, but I expect the cut off is lower than that. He put it first.

Congratulations on your son getting in! How exciting for him and what a relief for you.

Your son's 515 is very likely 10-15 points about the cutoff, if we are to compare how the other school cutoff scores changed from last year. I'll probably leave it as a ? still for now until somebody shares a score that's closer to last year's. Tx so much for sharing.

HSMSE - I know 2 students from my test prep course who were each accepted with a score of 495
Bx Sci - I had one student accepted with a 512
Stuy - is the 560 for sure? I had one student accepted with 560 and another not accepted with 557, but I don't know about 558 and 559

I updated the scores based on what you provided - tx! It's really hard to know exact so the scores posted are basically the lowest known score accepted. Now if the DOE would just make all of our lives easier by posting the scores, I'm not going to complain. :D

Goes anyone know the dates for the entrance exam for 2012-2013.

I know it's usually the last weekend of October, but has it been officially announced as yet?

The DoE won't announce dates until fall of 2012.

Hi, thanks for answering - but the dates are announced before the school year is over -- the dates will be in the Student Handbook, which is given out to students before the summer.

Hello, everybody.
Where do you think it's better to prepare for SHSAT? Kaplan? Princeton review? GambitPrep? Need your help and opinion. Cause I'm completely lost here... Thnks.

Ok. Thanks. But what I meant is which company to choose to get prepared for the SHSAT? Which one is the best? Cause most of them are the same: prices, different locations, super-puper instructors in each..

Lily, GRF Test Prep is a company with various locations in the city, not an online service. My son used it last year and was very happy with his results. He was accepted to his first choice school, Bronx Science.

Sorry if this is off topic. I am currently taking the courses for the SHSAT. I received a score of 536 on my midterm. Are my odds of getting into Stuyvesant good?

I am currently a student at the Bronx High School of Science and the cutoff scores are expected to be around 530 for 2012 because of the high amount of freshmen coming in this year.

It is not as easy as you think. I got around 600 on my practice tests but the real SHSAT turned out to be a little harder. I wasn't that close to 600 at all in the real SHSAT and I was right to put Bronx Science first. But still, it is your decision what you want to pursue in life. Stuyvesant is for people who like math especially. Bronx Science is obviously for science. Bronx Science also has the #1 Debate Team in the Country.

Hi mommyof 3: good luck to your son (and you of course)! Having been though it, I wish you the best! The cutoff scores I put together are the lowest score that qualified for admission into the various specialized high school. In other words, the lowest SHSAT score last year that I heard got into Stuyvesant was 560 while for Brooklyn Tech was 482. Hope that helps.

Cutoff scores are a certain amount of points you need to score on the S.H.S.A.T. to be able to get into that school. If you/your child scores too low on that exam and doesn't get a sufficient amount of points to reach that cutoff score, they would be declined admittance to the school.

So if your child has done some practice tests; if you don't mind sharing his/her scores, I can help you determine which school he/she would most likely get into at the highest standards.
