I can't believe after all the tours, essays, interviews and events, we're just two days away from getting the admissions results. I'm excited but also nervous and will be stalking the mailman on Friday. I'll share our results and hope you'll do the same. Good luck everybody!

I'm having trouble sleeping knowing that the letters will come in a few hours. Months of work come down to today. Excited and nervous at the same time.

Can't believe the day is finally here! Unfortunately our mail doesn't come until the end of the day so I will be waiting awhile.

I wish you all good luck! I remember last year it was raining too when the letters arrived. Looking forward to reading about all of your good news!

Or not 2 be (in private K)--sadly the mail man was carrying only thin letter envelopes for us. Wait pooled everywhere.

Oh no. So sorry to hear. I'd definitely touch base with your preschool director and have him/her lob a call to your top choice.

We got too youngs last year and I'm still waiting for the mail to come so we can put this whole process behind us.

Now I'm getting freaked out about where our mail is. Couple friends with boys are getting a bunch of waitlist letters too. Don;t know if that's a boy thing or just the year in general.

Btw, can you guys share whether you applied for a boy or girl when you post?

kmoma2be

Nope, it's not just a boy thing in our case.

Congratulations noemom! Are the yeses from coeds or single sex schools?

We finally got our mail and I can now enjoy my weekend. Phew. One accept at our top choice boys school where we got too young letter last year. The rest are waitlists but it doesn't matter any more.

YAY! Our daughter got into Convent. I was really worried about what I'd do if she didn't get into one of the girls schools since we didn't push hard for our parish school and had gotten waitlisted.

Our mailman didn't come until 4pm - I was nauseous with anxiety! But we were happy our son got into Friends, Town, Children's Day School, waitlisted at Cathedral and SF Day.

Our son got into SF Day and Town. We're really torn right now since Town was our early first choice but Day has grown on us. The whole coed vs single six thing we really need to figure out.

We are so happy to have received an acceptance letter for our daughter for Convent- our first choice. Big sigh of relief. WL at the other girl's school we applied to. This has been a long and exhausting journey.

We received a too young at Hamlin but got accepted at one of the other two girls' schools (Burkes). I really want Hamlin; do we pass on the one accept and reapply to Hamlin next year? Are our chances better next year if we got a too young this year?

I don't know when your daughter's birthday is but I know girls with very late May birthdays at Hamlin. There are no guarantees next year and only you know if your daughter is not ready for kindergarten this year or will likely be bored at pre-k next year. Best wishes.

Thank you edsanfran for the info. I guess I was taken aback by one school thinking my daughter is ready while another thinking she's too young. Chances are we'll take the acceptance but I'm still digesting the disappointment.

After a disastrous process last year of getting shut out multiple rounds from a public school of our choice, we decided to hold our kid back in prek. We went through the private process this year and are ecstatic to get into Live Oak.

It seems that a couple of my friends received acceptances at both Stuart Hall and Town. I also heard of a few more families in the same situation. If you are waitlisted at a boys school, don't lost hope yet. Spots will likely open up once these families decide.

Accept at Presidio Hill, waitlisted at MCDS. Do waitlists move coz we really would love a spot at MCDS? Do schools take a kid off the waitlist when an accepted family pass on the spot? Or do they accept more kids than spots are available and so it would take a few passes before a spot even opens up?

Did anybody else run into mail problem like we did on Friday? We got most of the letters but were missing a couple. Luckily, we got an accept from MCDS or else I'd have been really freaked out. The rest ended up coming on Saturday.

We had the same problem with one of the school letters. After talking to a couple friends who are also going through the process, it seems that some of the Marina families experienced the issue too so it wasn't just us.

Don't accept a school you don't want, but it sounds pretty risky. I'd talk to your preschool director and possibly Hamlin about your chances. Do you have other options you prefer to Burke's? I'm sure many others would be thrilled to get your spot. Burke's is our first choice.

Can I ask when your daughter's bday is? We are interested in Hamlin for next year (applying in the fall), but our daughter has a mid-june bday. I've heard Hamlin considers this too young. Just curious about your experience. Thanks!

You're right - it's probably too risky. Chances are if I pass this year, there's no way I can reapply to Burkes so I'm really putting all my eggs in one basket. We like Burkes a lot; just that, we like Hamlin a little more. Oh well.

Yeah, our daughters have similar May/June birthday timeframe. Hamlin does seem to have an earlier "too young" cutoff based on what my friends told me. But I was hoping that my daughter might make the cut - silly me. You never know though so don't let me discourage you. Every kid is different.

Hi Everyone, I hope you are getting "yes!" letters from the schools you wanted! That said I know not everyone does so I wanted to mention that Marin Prep (in the Castro, Diamond and 19th) is still taking rolling admissions. It is a new school (3 years old) so not many people know about it. It is a very unique Spanish infusion JK-8 private school. I am a parent there and have posted on this site before about our positive experience so won't belabor that again, but I hope some of you that are still looking for the right fit will check it out!
