Sorry for asking what may seem like a stupid question but can current parents share how the morning and afternoon commute is to Alta Vista's new location? We really liked what we saw from the admission tour, but I'm a little concerned how long it would take to get to the school twice a day. Are there buses or carpools parents have set up? Thank you.

There is a bus that leaves from Saint Mary's Cathedral on Gough. I live in West Portal and carpool with another family. It takes me 17 minutes. There are informal carpools. People who live in the Richmond take Sunset Blvd. and say it's not bad. Families in Noe Valley, Glen Park, Potrero and Bernal say it's pretty easy.

Hi!
We take the bus and it is a very easy commute. We live two miles from the stop but it takes less than ten minutes to get to the stop because of its location. The bus is extremely well managed, too! We love, love, love the bus!
Other than that...when we lived in Pacific Heights, the commute, by car to the present location, was 15-20 minutes. From Pacific Heights, the bus stop was less than 5 minutes away. We just moved to Lake St/Inner Richmond and the car commute to the school is now 20-25 minutes.
What you need to note is that there is PARKING at Alta Vista. So, there might be closer schools but for many of them, you can drive around looking for parking for a very long time if you actually need to go into the building!
