Dear NYC School Community,

As you may have heard, PS 150 has lost its lease and now is facing relocation to another school in the South Street Seaport area next year. This was devastating news for our families, who love our small, high-performing, and community-minded school.

But instead of accepting this news, our parents are banding together to persuade our landlords to continue negotiations with a very willing NYC Department of Education, to allow PS 150 to remain in its current location. Already we have received the support of our local elected officials and Community Board 1.

We hope to receive your support as well.

If you would like to support us in our efforts to stay in our home and community, please sign our petition to our landlords, Vornado Trust Realty and Stellar Management.

Thank you

Thank you to everyone who signed our petition. If anyone has 30 mins to spare next Tuesday, November 13th at 3:00 PM. Please join us for a rally outside our school. Please see info below.

Vornado, a major real estate developer, is evicting PS 150, an award winning elementary school, effective at the end of the school year. What does Vornado intend to do with the space? Put in a gym. Despite the support of local elected officials, the landlord is still unwilling to reconsider.

Community is being sacrificed for private gain with no thought for the local residents' needs. Vornado has already evicted all its retail tenants, leaving Greenwich Street, once populated by mom-and-pop stores, barren for two full blocks.

A line has truly been crossed. Now, not just retail and rent control tenants are Vornado targets for eviction, but a public school for 180 children. It is a heartless escalation of the hollowing out that we see happening in every neighborhood, in every borough.

PS 150, “the little school that could,” is taking a stand. Against great odds, but with the unanimous support of our community and elected officials, we are fighting to keep something precious from being destroyed.

We have been told by a Vornado representative that “there will be no happy ending for your school” — but we will not back down. Please help us share our story and save PS 150. We need your help.

We are holding a rally on Tuesday, November 13th at 3pm on the steps of our school at 334 Greenwich Street in TriBeCa. Please be there to help spread the word and fight what is happening to our school and community.
