US News looked at the nearly 600 schools that qualified for the Gold, Silver, and Honorable Mention lists of the U.S. News Best High Schools and then evaluated their students' participation rates and performances on AP exams in math and science.   7. Pacific Collegiate School (Santa Cruz, CA) - 64.6
  8. International Community School (Kirkland, WA) - 64.5
  9. Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (Aurora, IL) - 63.0
  10. Mission San Jose High School (Fremont, CA) - 59.0
  11. Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions (Houston, TX) - 57.0
  12. Raleigh Charter High School (Raleigh, NC) - 57.0
  13. Staten Island Technical High School (Staten Island, NY) - 55.9
  14. The Maine School of Science and Mathematics (Limestone, ME) - 55.7
