Thoughts on ActivityFriends - playdate matching service?

I noticed that Abacus Guide, an school placement consultant, is trying to start up a play date matching service called ActivityFriends for NYC and Westchester parents. They'll match children for playdates for a $50 admin fee based on gender, age, grade, availability, neighborhoods, desired play activities, personality and so on. If there's a match, they'll release the other parent's contact info for you to set up the play date. Here's the actual description from the site (http://www.abacusmom.com/abacus_mom/...lay-dates.html).

Curious to hear if anybody has tried it out or is considering giving the service a try? Is the admin fee per match or for joining the service?

Maybe there's demand for this, but coming from a school placement consultant, this just seems weird. Are ERB scores and household income going to be among the criteria too? Why not spend some QT with your children on the playground or in playgroups and meet some other great parents to set up playdates with?

To respond to MSeymour, sometimes children with special needs have a hard time finding play dates. While ActivityFriends never got off the ground, there is another service, https://specialplaydate.com/ that specializes in helping kids find peers with whom to spend playtime.
