HIGH SCHOOL CHINESE LANGUAGE PROGRAM -
CHINA INSTITUTE’S AP CHINESE PREP COURSE
Get exclusive preparation for the AP Chinese Language and Culture test in this exciting new class at China Institute. This course provides a unique opportunity for high school students to boost their proficiency in Mandarin, gain an extra advantage on college applications, and prepare for college-level course work. This class will serve two different sets of students: those who are ready to study for the AP test and those who need additional language study before they begin AP test prep.
Our classes have been designed to take a comprehensive approach to the contents and skills needed to master the exam, covering cultural themes, vocabulary, sentence structures, test formats, test-taking strategies, and practicing communicative skills in the interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational modes. Through interactive group and individual activities students will learn how to interpret authentic reading materials, construct story narratives, write e-mail correspondence, and conduct cultural presentations.
A select team of respected curriculum specialists and experienced high school Chinese AP class teachers has designed and will teach the classes. Limited class size will ensure that students receive personalized attention from their instructors according to their proficiency level.
This class is recommended for high school juniors and seniors preparing for the AP Chinese Language and Culture test. Students should be at a mid-intermediate level of Mandarin with a minimum three years of experience in Mandarin studies prior to the class. Classes fill up on a first come, first serve basis.
Students will be given a proficiency assessment prior to the start of the class. Those students not at a mid-intermediate level will focus on raising their language proficiency, while mid-intermediate students will concentrate on AP test practice and strategizing.
