    HCES - anybody waitlisted?

Son was waitlisted at HCES. Anybody else too? Does the waitlist ever even move in the last few years? Tempted to call office for updates but I do not want to be 'that parent'. Anybody going through this process too?
If he is selected off the WL, anybody know what Hunter's re-evaluation process is like? I'm
grateful that we still have a chance, but not so happy for the indefinite limbo. Focusing on our local PS for now and waiting for G&T scores to come in.

My daughter was waitlisted at Hunter. Calling/asking do NO good at all. They will not give you one slight hint of where you stand regarding a realistic shot at getting in. They will tell you sometimes they only take 1-2 kids from the waitlist, and sometimes they take all or most of it. It depends completely on what the accepted kids do. They won't tell you if you're up or down on the list. Best to just make other plans and be pleasantly surprised if it happens. Best of luck. (My kid did not get in, but we are actually happy about it because while it's an amazing school, it's quite far for us.)

Thanks for your reply. I'm making other plans and will keep it in the background as a possible pleasant surprise. Waiting to hear about G&T scores next month and we'll see. So far, we're slated for our district PS which is good. Congratulations on your daughter.

My child is on the WL too. The WL does move, but it's different every year. One year, they took all the boys off the WL.

Good luck to your child. The secrecy is painful, right? It would be nice for them to tell us how many were off the WL each year, just to give us a sense (no guarantee, of course). So, I'm focusing on new paths in order to cope. :-)

Same here. Our daughter got into our other top choice school, but if she gets into a citywide G&T, then we'll have to re-evaluate. I'm sure I'll obsess over the Hunter waitlist in June, when the waitlists across the city move again.

We sadly just gave up our spot at Hunter for next year. We had to move out of Manhattan so we had no choice But I am happy for the little boy who will get a spot now! Good luck!

We didn't even try for Hunter this year so I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for your family to give up the seat. Your son will excel anywhere so don't worry!
