On May 1, the NYC City Council, in particular the joint Committee on Education and Civil & Human Rights, held a hearing session in the Council Chambers of City Hall.

The hearing "Segregation in the NYC School System" had the intent to discuss diversity in the NYC school system as a whole. In attendance, with testimony, was DOE Chancellor Carranza along with two deputy chancellors.

After a prepared speech, Carranza answered questions from the council. I believe he left at that point.

The general public including some organizations then made comments for a number of hours.

This is a heated issue and a manipulative issue and has been for some time. Let's be mindful of that when making comments.
