Generally speaking every boarding school will say that they are looking for a well-rounded student who has done well academically, been involved in activities and is ready to learn. If your child can boast good student involvement, high grades and good SSAT or ISEE scores, then he or she is a strong candidate. However, each school is different and there are ways that you can share your child’s background, experience and interests in order to make a great impression on an admissions director and improve his or her chances.

DO
  • Be yourself
  • Do your research
  • Keep in touch with the admission officer
  • Let your No. 1 school know that it is your first choice
DON'T
  • Tell a school it is not your No. 1 choice
  • Say your choice in school is resting on financial aid
  • Ignore your child's concerns about school choice
