An excerpt from the WSJ story by Jim Carlton:
With fall classes around the corner, San Francisco's Marin Preparatory School [which started as just a single kindergarten class in 2009] has had a bigger challenge than most grammar institutions: coping with its headmaster's abrupt departure and losing half the incoming first-grade class to his new rival school...

In May, Mr. Walters announced he was resigning to head Alta Vista. Going with him were six of the Marin Prep parents, including Abdur Chowdhury, the chief scientist at microblogging company Twitter Inc...

In an Aug. 1 article in the San Francisco Chronicle, he [Mr. Chowdhury] said he created Alta Vista in part to give his daughter more hands-on science experience. In an open message to Alta Vista parents on the school's website, Mr. Walters said, "We are building an exciting and innovative learning environment at Alta Vista school."
