    MAT Middle School Admissions Test

Any current MAT parents or past applicants have any insight into the MAT admissions test for MS? Can't find anything online, and the only info they provided is that it's a one hour written test covering both math and ELA. For ELA, curious whether it's an essay, multiple choice, testing actual reading/writing comprehension through reading responses (similar to the state tests), or asking more tactical questions about grammar, parts of speech, sentence structure, etc.

For the most part many of these mysterious, unknown, black box middle school admissions' tests are usually math and writing. They are also usually focused on filling the gap between the respective previous state test. Therefore, target that kind of information. For math be totally up to grade level. Some do multiple choice, others "test further" with show your work and/or grid-ins. For writing often it's a passage with analysis or a free form prompt.

Note: I don't recall working with a MAT candidate, so the above is not specific to MAT just general comments from having worked with kids on other "similar" tests. I'd be curious if MAT does it differently.
