    Kindergarten admissions

    Folks

The kindergarten admissions started today. Is it true that one can put non-zoned schools in their priority list but there are 0% chances of getting into any of the highly rated ones? Also, I don't see any of the G&T schools in the list such as Q300 or Nest. Shouldn't they be included in the non-zoned list too given there is no G&T test this year?

    Thanks

It is not correct that there is no G&T test this year. All that is known is that the information has not been released yet. Different thing.

Do you know if they've signed a contract with the vendor that handles G&T?

And yes in general there is a 0% change of getting into a non zoned highly rated school. There is no harm in putting them down and with the pandemic things may play out differently, but I would have 0 expectations.

That's a good article. I posted this question to the DOE during the open forums but they didn't include it for answering. If I rank an out of zone school as priority 1 but then decide against it, can I change my mind and opt for my zoned elementary school? Thanks

If I understand your question, it depend upon when the change of ranking occurs.

Well, we have to submit our ranking by Jan 19. Thereafter, I believe they'll come back to us with results in 2 months or so from what I remember. Do you think if I change my mind as soon those results come out that I stand a better chance to make the change?

If I understand your question, you have no chance of making a change.

So if we get into our chosen Priority 1 school, we will have no opportunity to opt for our Priority 2 school for school starting in Sept 2021. Right?

How about the following year beginning Sept 2022? Will we have the right to switch to our zoned school?

    Thanks
