While they're claiming to revamp G&T, what they've said so far will be nothing of the sort. It is smoke and mirrors intended to bring everybody to mediocrity and failure, and all on purpose. Sad.

I know we can only make guesses here but for kids entering kindergarten like nest+m in sept 2021, will they be asked to leave the following year after they become zoned?

    Thanks

There is so many ands, if, and buts, but I would think not, however there may be no reason to stay. This has repercussions beyond just G&T and will be instrumental in rolling NYC pedagogy backwards, even in consideration of what they'll propose instead, which is a charade.

The incoming Sept 2021 class will likely be the last and they will be allowed to complete the program and not asked to leave. But in my opinion as the program is phased out, the quality of the education may decline and specially trained G&T teachers may choose to move on.

Is it safe to assume G&T test will also be administered to current K-2nd graders in April?

That's what they're saying. So far.

Can't believe omitting G&T is viewed as path to diversity. As a niche program serving 2,500 out of 65,000 (3.8%) it will have negligible impact. What's next, level real estate values? That's the 800-pound guerrilla driving lack of diversity. I don't get why diversity initiatives in G&T already in place can't be increased and enforced. Move the test up one year, give to everyone, and provide support for test preparedness. Will citywides become Charters? Or like Hunter develop their own rubrics. So much to unpack here, but starting with its hard, we give up, cancel it and start to explore alternatives is a radical failure of leadership at DOE.

Even those who disagree about how to solve their disagreements agree that K-8 is broken. But that is never addressed. If everybody is kept down, kept mediocre, problem solved: equality and equity. Voila.
